MATTHEW CHAPTER 5
Jesus went up into a mountain, it is in Matthew chapter 5
His disciples followed after him to be by his side
As they sat at his feet, and listened to him speak
He opened up his mouth and taught them saying
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst
After righteousness, for they shall be filled
As the holy teacher taught them of what it took to enter in
He told to them the measure of a man if they wanted to be blessed
and have a home in heaven these things they must do if they’d see God
Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God
As they looked upon his face and listened to his voice
He broke to them the bread of life they had much to learn
And had the world’s greatest teacher and as they caught the vision he spoke
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake
For theirs is the kingdom of God
Blessed are ye when men shall say all manner of evil against you
Falsely for my sakeRejoice and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven
Now ye are the salt of the Earth, also the light of the world
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works
And glorify your father which is in heaven
