What is Grace?

What is Grace?

I’ve asked this question "What is Grace" before, and the general response was “UNMERITED MERCY.” However, if that were true, it would only be mercy, not biblical grace. Grace is much more abundant and carries a deeper meaning than we might initially think. Here are examples;

Tit 1:4 To Titusmine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

2Jn 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

It is evident that grace and mercy are not the same in each scripture and are repeated as such. The usage of grace differs significantly in the next scripture, Hebrews 4:16.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

This suggests that grace serves as the seat of authority and power, where God and Jesus reside.

Grace is mentioned in the next scripture as a source of hope and the beginning of faith for Lot. Lot responded, “You have shown me,” which signifies a way of life that God has planned for Lot.

Gen 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Moses discovered a way of living that aligned with God’s plan. Seeking further guidance, Moses engaged in prayer to gain more information about this way of life.

Exo 33:13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

Moses explained grace as God’s “way” and sought to understand more about the ways in which grace works to please God.

What is Grace..it is the PLAN for salvation of mankind.

While there might be some apprehension about the notion of Grace being the Plan of God, as it could imply predestination, this idea is precisely the opposite of predestination. It encompasses the possibility of God altering His mind, and mankind having the freedom to choose whether or not to serve Him.
